Recently, Sr. Bernadette Feist received the Queen Elizabeth II Platinum Jubilee Medal for her work with the indigenous peoples of the Regina Archdiocese. She was nominated for the award by the village of Lebret. Altogether, she has worked among the indigenous for 52 years, the beginnings of her ministry as a teacher in LaLoche.
Raised in Barthel with eight brothers and three sisters, Sr. Bernadette left home at 14 to receive an education. She made her first profession with the Ursulines of Prelate in 1965.
Sr. Bernadette received much support from Susan Desnomie and her blood sister, Sister Theresa Feist, and asked that these two be present to receive the medal with her.
