Needing to Adapt

The pandemic is forcing all of us to change and adapt to doing things differently. These steps are not always easy since they are so contrary to what we are used to. This is certainly the case for funerals. Since the pandemic started, three Sisters have passed away and it was not possible to bury them in our usual tradition. The cremains of Sr. Liz Elder, Sr. Emily Hittel and Sr. Lorraine Klein were finally laid to rest on October 1st. On September 30, a Mass was said for them at St. Angela Merici Residence, with Sisters not living there, being present in Spirit. The next day, Sr. Anne Lewans and Andy Praksas made the trip to Prelate for the burial. Social distancing guidelines made it impossible for more people to attend. Some family members went to Prelate, one of whom brought red rose petals and strewed them on the urns and on the ground after the holes were filled. It is interesting to note that it was the Feast of St. Therese of Lisieux, the Little Flower. Our three Sisters are with her in heaven.
