Higgins Award (for real now)

After her worship community celebrated the fact that Sr. Teresita Kambeitz would receive the Higgins Award, the event has now actually taken place. On June 9th, Sr. Teresita received the award at the annual Canadian School Trustees Convention in Kelowna, BC.

The Higgins Award is given in memory of the Honourable Justice James Higgins (1913-1974) of St. John's, Newfoundland. This award is presented annually to a person or group that has made an outstanding contribution to Catholic education in Canada. The Justice James Higgins Award is the highest honour provided by CCSTA. Sr. Teresita is the seventh women to receive the honour since its inception in 1975. Sister Teresita was nominated by the Board of Education of Greater Saskatoon Catholic Schools.

Sr. Anne Lewans, General Superior was present for the ceremony in Kelowna.
