Higgins Award to Sr. Teresita Kambeitz
Sr. Mary Zerr, Sr. Teresita Kambeitz, Sr. Anne Lewans
We rejoice with Sister Teresita who is receiving the 2018 Higgins Award, presented annually by the Canadian Catholic School Trustees. The Higgins Award is given in memory of the Honourable Justice James Higgins (1913-1974) of St. John's, Newfoundland. This award is presented annually to a person or group that has made an outstanding contribution to Catholic education in Canada. The Justice James Higgins Award is the highest honour provided by CCSTA. Sr. Teresita is the seventh women to receive the honour since its inception in 1975. Sister Teresita was nominated by the Board of Education of Greater Saskatoon Catholic Schools.
The award will be presented in Kelowna in June at the annual convention of the Canadian Catholic School Trustees. The Sunday Worship Community at St. Thomas More College in Saskatoon already celebrated the honor at a Mass in March with Sr. Anne Lewans, General Superior, and Sr. Mary Zerr, a council member present.
Congratulations, Sister Teresita! We are all honored by your honor. Continued blessings on your ministry in Catholic Education!
