“Together - In Person” was the theme of the Ursuline Sisters and Associates gathering on June 4, 2017 in Swift Current. These assemblies take place every 4 years with this year’s being hosted by the Swift Current group. Associates from Saskatoon, Medicine Hat and Prelate area, along with 12 Ursuline Sisters of Prelate attended.
During the 11:00am Mass at Christ the Redeemer Parish new associates Garry and Darlene Fix, and Donna Lingnau from Saskatoon were received by Bill Shumay, Director and Bev Canaday, formation director.
The Swift Current Associates did a great amount of work and were excellent hosts. Our day was well organized with times for visiting, sharing and playing. We were inspired by our guest speakers, Ken Rolheiser, who spoke to us about living our Christian commitment in new ways as we aged gracefully and Sr. Anne Lewans, who reviewed our history with our associates. She also updated those assembled where the various Sisters were living.
Our Associate/Ursuline Recommitment Ceremony reminded us that together we are called to live our baptismal promises by participating in the mission of Jesus and the goals, ideals, and mission of the Ursuline Sisters. Together we are sustained by the Charism of St. Angela Merici; together we commit to serve God’s people by “Educating for Life”.
