Papal Honour for Ursuline Sister
January 5th, 2010

On January 5, 2010, Sr. Bernadette Feist received the “Pro Ecclesia et Pontifice” ( Cross of Honor) for her work with First Nations People. The citation read as follows:

SISTER BERNADETTE FEIST, osu – Ursuline Sister of Prelate, in Residence in Lebret

Sr. Bernadette has spent her life devoted to ministry to First Nations Peoples.  Her first work experience led her to LaLoche in Northern Saskatchewan where she taught among the Chipewyan and Dene Peoples.  Following this experience, she began ministering to the First Nations Peoples on the many reserves within the Archdiocese of Regina.  Under her direction, the formation of the Valley Native Ministry Program was developed.  She was also instrumental in setting up the volunteer Native Ministry fund-raiser program called “Too Good To Be Threw”.  Her dedication, perseverance, and embodiment of the social teaching of the Church, have been a blessing to many, and a prophetic sign of witness to which all Christians are called in living and proclaiming the Gospel.

Vivian Bosch, an Ursuline Associate also received this honour.
